Madonna of Senigallia

The work, painted with tempera and oil on wood, is one of the paintings where the artist reveals his mainly attention to the values of light, in his reflections as the magical transparencies. The scene shows a Madonna and Child flanked by two angels. The Child, in the act of blessing, is holding a white rose, a symbol of purity of the Virgin, while the neck has a pearl necklace with red coral, an archaic symbol of protection of infants.
