Sassocorvaro

The Oratory of SS. Trinity erected in 1722, but restored in neoclassical style from 1880, houses the relics of St. Valentine martyr, the head and bones of the Roman presbyter lived at the time of the persecution of Christians. He is considered the patron of lovers, according to the belief, common in the Middle Ages, especially in France and England that February 14, the day of the dies natalis of Valentino, the birds begin to mate. In Sassocorvaro, lovers go to the Oratory to pay homage to the saint, and take part to the liturgical rites of the Mass and receive a special blessing, with a sweet well wishes in the form of heart. Valentino, who cured the sick and procured the dowry to poor girls to get married, continues to fulfill its mission of love and peace given to young lovers.
